How Do I Sign Up?

Ready to join us? Hooray! Here's how to make it happen:

For starters, please be sure you've reviewed our website and get what we're all about. An international tour is a big investment, and we want to be sure you'll be happy with us. If you have questions, you'll find lots of answers on the following pages:

~ Frequently Asked Questions about Globejotter Tours

~ Frequently Asked Questions about our Vietnam Tours

~ Frequently Asked Questions about our Botswana Safaris

(For the Vietnam and Botswana pages, you'll need to click the "FAQs" tab once you arrive at the main page.)

If you can't find the info you're looking for there, give us a call or send us an e-mail. We're happy to chat.

If you've checked out our info and you're ready to dive in, your next step is to e-mail or phone us. Our e-mail address is info@GlobejotterTours.com. Our phone number is 1-206-922-2292. Let us know which tour you're interested in and we'll let you know if space is available. If it is, we'll hold a spot for you for seven days, and send you some sign-up forms. Fill out the forms, sign them, and mail them back to us, along with a non-refundable deposit check or money order for the initial deposit. You may also pay by Paypal, and we accept credit cards for the initial deposit. (We have alternative payment options if you're not in the United States.)

Our deposit, refund, and travel insurance policies differ for our Vietnam and Botswana trips. Please see the information below for each of these trips:

Signing Up for a Vietnam Tour

Our payment schedule for our upcoming Vietnam tour is as follows:

~ Initial $300 deposit: Due upon sign-up.

~ Second $300 deposit: Must be received by July 19, 2010.

~ Final payment: Must be received by August 13, 2010.

~ You may sign up for the tour after these dates if space is still available; however, you might be required to pay your second deposit or the full tour cost at the time of sign-up, depending on how close you are to the departure date. U.S. residents can generally obtain a Vietnamese visa within a few days if needed.

Cancellation and Refund Policy for Vietnam:

~ Deposits are non-refundable unless you purchase cancellation insurance (please see below for details); however, if you pay your second deposit prior to the July 19 due date, it is fully refundable until that date. Any cancellation of a booking must be in writing and shall only be effective upon its acknowledged receipt by Globejotter Tours.

~ Final payments are fully refundable until the August 13 payment deadline.

~ Between August 14 and September 17, you may request a 50 percent refund of your final payment if you cancel; however, we reserve the right to withhold any deposits we have paid to suppliers that are not refundable to us.

~ Cancellations made less than 30 days before the start of the tour are not eligible for any refund.

Travel Insurance and Optional Cancellation Insurance for Vietnam:

Our Vietnam tours include a basic insurance policy from Travel Guard, which covers situations such as medical evacuation, emergency medical and dental care while traveling, and lost luggage. You will receive full details of your coverage when you receive your paperwork to sign up for the tour.

This basic plan does not include cancellation coverage. However, if you would like to add cancellation coverage to the above policy, Globejotter Tours has negotiated special rates with Travel Guard that are cheaper than their individual rates. This optional cancellation insurance costs US $100 per person if you only wish to cover the cost of the tour. If you also wish to cover airfare or other travel expenses, please contact us for a price quote.

Signing Up for a Botswana Safari

Our payment schedule for our upcoming Botswana Safari is as follows:

~ Initial $400 deposit: Due upon sign-up.

~ Second deposit of $1,100 must be received by November 30, 2010. (Please note that deposit payments are higher on our Africa safaris than on our Vietnam trips because of payment requirements at the safari camps and lodges.)

~ Final payment: Must be received by December 30, 2010.

~ You may sign up for the safari after these dates if space is still available; however, you might be required to pay your second deposit or the full tour cost at the time of sign-up, depending on how close you are to the departure date.

Cancellation and Refund Policy for Botswana:

Any cancellation of a booking must be in writing and shall only be effective upon its acknowledged receipt by Globejotter Tours. At the time of cancellations, a full refund or credit will be made, minus the following charges:

~ Up to 90 days before departure: The cost of your initial deposit

~ Up to 61 days before departure: the cost of your first and second deposits.

~ 60 to 30 days before departure: 50% of the package price plus any non-refundable supplier deposits.

~ Less than 30 days before departure: No refunds will be given.

Please note that many travel insurance policies will cover you for non-refunded deposits under certain circumstances; therefore we strongly recommend a travel insurance policy that covers you for trip cancellation, effective as soon as you sign up for the tour. Please see the following section regarding insurance requirements for our safari lodges and camps.

Travel Insurance Requirements for Botswana:

Due to requirements from African camp and lodge operators, we require that all Globejotter Tours participants purchase a comprehensive travel insurance plan valid for the duration of your trip. This insurance plan should cover you for events such as trip cancellation, delay or interruption, lost or delayed baggage, accidents, illness and evacuation, 24 hour medical assistance, traveler's assistance, and emergency cash transfer.

For our American and Canadian clients, we recommend Travel Guard insurance, the industry leader and largest provider. Globejotter Tours is a licensed insurance seller within the United States and Canada and can arrange a policy on your behalf. The total premium will be based on each traveler's age and the total per person price including air tickets. Please contact us if you would like a quote to book a policy through Globejotter Tours. It is also acceptable if you purchase travel insurance on your own from another provider. Proof of insurance is required before the start of the safari. Please ensure that your policy includes major medical and evacuation coverage.

For residents of other countries, we cannot book a policy for you unless you will be traveling to Africa via the United States; however, depending on where you live, we can sometimes recommend an insurance provider in your area.

Time to Go!

As soon as we receive your deposit and completed paperwork, we'll mail you a confirmation letter, along with a copy of Dave Fox's book, Globejotting: How to Write Extraordinary Travel Journals (and still have time to enjoy your trip!), and advice on how to obtain any necessary visas. (Visas must be obtained in advance for Vietnam. There is more information about this on our Vietnam FAQs page. For our Africa trips, US citizens can take care of their visas upon arrival in South Africa and Botswana. You do not need to do anything ahead of time.)

We're here to help with any questions you have. Otherwise, all you need to do is bask in the glow of your upcoming adventure!
